Why Use Threads?

Starting a Thread

Click the thread icon (💬) on any message to reply in a thread. Your response will be grouped with the original message instead of appearing in the main chat.

The original message shows a thread indicator with the number of replies, so everyone knows there's more discussion happening.

Following Threads

When someone replies to a message in a thread:

• You'll see the thread count update on the original message
• Thread participants get notifications for new replies
• Click the thread indicator to see all responses

Thread Sidebar

Active threads open in a sidebar next to the main chat. This lets you:

• See the full conversation context
• Reply without leaving the main channel
• Switch between the thread and main chat easily

On mobile, threads open in a full-screen view for better readability.

• Use threads for follow-ups - Perfect for "thanks!" or clarifying questions
• Keep discussions focused - Start threads for topics that might go back and forth
